Why Weaver?

There are a million WordPress themes you can choose for your blog. Each offers different options for customization - some require a lot of coding, while others have a really simple user interface that lets you make changes without knowing any coding at all.

I use the Weaver II Pro theme for every one of my blogs (there’s also a free version). Out of all the themes I’ve tried, I come back to Weaver II consistently because it’s just so easy to use. I highly recommend it, especially to new bloggers who don’t want to spend time learning CSS and HTML.

Why is Weaver II So Great?

It’s easy. Everything in Weaver II is either a checkbox or a field that you can easily fill in. Want to change the background color? Click a box, choose a color, and save. Want to have two sidebars instead of one? Drop down a box and add another sidebar. It is so simple to create a blog that looks exactly the way you want it to look.

Integrated mobile support. Weaver II comes with a free mobile version that will automatically display for people visiting from smartphones or tablets. You don’t even have to set it up - once you’ve checked the box to activate it, people will see it with no more action on your part. However, there are options to customize the mobile version of your site if you want.

Sub-themes. Maybe you don’t really want to spend a lot of time customizing - you just want to choose a color scheme and get started blogging. Weaver II has tons of sub-themes that you can choose if you aren’t interested in changing every little detail.

Active help forums. Since I’ve been using Weaver II for awhile, sometimes I want to use customizations that aren’t quite as simple as checking a box. If I can’t figure it out on my own, I can visit the forums and get an answer in a matter of hours. The creators of Weaver II are very responsive and will provide step-by-step instructions if you need them.

I can control EVERYTHING. Every color, font, image, or link you see on this site was chosen specifically by me. I never have that moment where I scratch my head and say, “Gee, I don’t like the way X looks on this theme, but I don’t know how to change it.” Your blog can look as unique as you want, all with a few clicks.

Why Should You Care?

This is how much I endorse the Weaver II theme - most of the tutorials I’ll be writing for this site will use it as a base. Not because I hate all the other themes out there, but because I personally don’t want to spend a lot of time talking about coding. Most people see code and run the other way!

Once you see some screenshots from the Weaver II admin panel, you’ll see why I’m such a dork about it. It’s SO EASY to get the look that you want, no matter what kind of site you’re setting up. Also, if you try Weaver II and like it, I’m available to answer specific questions regarding customizations since I know it like the back of my hand.

When you set up a blog, choosing a theme can be one of the most difficult decisions. So many of my friends find themes that look perfect - until they try to customize. For that reason, I urge you to check out Weaver II and let me know what you think.

I've never heard of Weaver - last I heard Thesis was the wonder child theme of choice!

I'll be honest - I get tired of hearing about Genesis, Thesis, and Atahualpa. I'm sure they're all great for people who like them, but from what I've seen, they require WAY too much coding! I prefer something I can set up fast and change even faster. :)

Is this site still running on Weaver? It looks so good it’s hard to believe it’s Weaver. Looks like something else.

No, it was originally built on Weaver, but I’ve redesigned twice since then. I’m currently using a heavily customized premium theme.

I lover Weaver II Pro as well. It was the first theme I experimented with. One feature that we use a lot in our website is the shortcode Show Posts - [weaver_show_posts] . Do other themes even offer this feature?

    • Andrea 9 Dec 2023 | reply

I have yet to come across a theme that offers it - there are ways to achieve the same thing, but not with a shortcode. Weaver is awesome!

I have to agree! I have been designing websites for 15 years and switched to WordPress (reluctantly) about 2 years ago. I have purchased at least 50 themes, and most of the time when I try using another premium theme I just can’t control the things I want to and I end up installing Weaver II Pro.
